Avilla Dog Park Update September 23 2022 - Town of Avilla

Crump’s Canine Corral Opening Day

Although it was a brisk morning, Avilla area dogs and their owners were excited to celebrate the ribbon cutting and grand opening of Avilla’s new dog park on Saturday, October 8th.

The opening day consisted of a short speech and dedication to the park, an official ribbon cutting, light refreshments, goodie bags for the canines to enjoy and take home, and playtime and socializing for the pups to explore their new safe space to play.

For just over two years, ReStore Avilla’s (ReStore) committee has been working to raise funds and awareness for its latest project, the first off-leash dog park in Noble County. The park, located on the property of Ley Street Park, which resides next to Noble County Public Library – Avilla (NCPL-Avilla), has finally been installed and completed because of generous donations from local businesses and individuals.

Todd Carteaux, President of ReStore, reported that the highest donor for the project was given the authority to name the park, and designated the honor to Vinnie and Camille Crump of Avilla, who selected the name Crump’s Canine Corral.

The park shared the parking lot of NCPL-Avilla and will now be maintained and supervised by Avilla Parks and Recreation.

Crump’s Canine Corral is open from dawn to dusk daily and allows two canines per owner at a time at the park. Rules are posted on-site, however, you can view all of them online at www.avilla-in.org/dog-park to be sure you are aware of them before taking your favorite pooch to enjoy the new play space.
