AVILLA – ReStore Avilla’s Name the Park contest received many interesting and creative entries over the past several weeks.
During its September meeting, Restore members narrowed entries down to the two best suited for the new pocket park location: Fountain Square and Heritage Park.
With little discussion, unanimously, the group voted to designate the park “Heritage Park”, a suggestion sent in by Avilla resident Shirley Dye. Shirley had the prize choice of an inscription on a shared capstone in the park or $100.
Within the next couple of weeks, ReStore is planning to hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the naming of and the completion of the installation of the pocket park, celebrating those within the community who have volunteered and donated to bring it to fruition.
